About the Programme
The Programme aims at enhancing social welfare professionals¡¦ understanding of dementia¡¦s definition, diagnosis, common symptoms and the related behaviour and psychological problems. The Programme also focuses on investigating the ways of taking care of suffering elders with scientific approaches including management of multi-disciplinary teams, positive communication, preparation of rehabilitation/nursing plan and assessment. Moreover, in order to enable the social welfare professionals to gain insight into the future development of dementia prevention and treatment, the Programme introduces recent researches of the disease and their applications.

Mode of Study
  • Each participant will be given a password to enter the self-studying web page. Participants are required to complete the 50-hour self-studying courses within 11 weeks. The entire Programme covers 9 chapters, participants are advised to spend 3 to 5 hours per week on the courses.
  • During the process of self study, participants are required to attend keynote workshops so as to consolidate the knowledge learned and apply it to Macao¡¦s social welfare and health care system.

    Performance Assessment
    In order to assess participants¡¦ mastery of the theories about dementia, they are required to take an online test after completing the 50-hour self-studying courses. The test consists of multiple choice questions and academic essay writing. Participants shall attend keynote workshops in the course of studying, and will be awarded certificate only after they have completed all the online courses, online test and workshops.
